Expectations of Project Leaders
1. Must attend SEALNet Leadership Institute Retreat from January 15-19, 2009
2. Open to feedback
3. There must be a local from the country on the core team of every project.
4. Projects with co-leaders in different time zones during the school year might be considered on a case-to-case basis.
5. Must work within SEALNet co-leadership and mentorship model
6. At least one project leader must have been on a SEALNet project before. (If you have not been on a SEALNet project before, contact Art or Lorra, we might be able to match you with a co-leader.)

| November 10 - December 3 | Arrange meetings with co-presidents and old project leaders for guidance on project proposals. |
| November 16 | Express intent to lead a project to co-presidents. |
| November 20 | First Prospective PL Call |
| December 4 | Second Prospective PL Call |
| December 7 | Project Proposal Draft due - Must have either a confirmed local partner OR an issue to address |

Project Proposal Template
Executive summary:
1. Write 4-5 sentences summarizing your project and why your team wants to lead this project
Project details:
(no more than 2 pages)
1. Problem description: Briefly describe the problem/need that your team is addressing. What community will your team be working in?
2. Local partner(s): Who are the local partners in your project, and what will they be contributing?
4. Sustainability: What continuity does your project have with past projects in your chosen country? What kind of impact do you expect your project to have and how will that be sustainable in the long term?
5. Success measures: What are some concrete measures by which the success of your project can be measured?
6. Budget: What is your estimated budget for the project? Please provide a rough description of the major expense items. (We are aware that this will be a very rough estimate)
7. Fundraising: What amount is your team prepared to fundraise for your project? (Previous projects had targets of ~50% of their budget, some teams have raised 100%)
8. What experience do you want to create for your team on the ground?
9. What are the 2 biggest gaps in your project right now? (this question is asked not to provide ammunition against your project, but rather to see if your team is able to identify current flaws in your planning process and work to address them)
10. Other details: (optional; e.g. if your team has ideas on special programs or programs of interest)

2. Mentoring: How can your professional mentors best help you both during planning and execution? What mentoring style do you think would fit you and your team?
